Supervisor Development Programme

A national Supervisor Development Programme aimed to enable and empower those responsible for delivering and overseeing effective supervision within local authorities.

We worked with the Department of Health and Social Care and Skills for Care to deliver a national Supervisor Development Programme.

The programme aimed to enable and empower those responsible for delivering and overseeing effective supervision within local authorities to deliver and disseminate sustainable learning within their local areas.

It included three days of learning using a ‘Train the Trainer’ approach, combining face-to-face teaching and self-directed study. Participants were encouraged to collaborate with regional colleagues to share resources and good practice, bringing together a unique combination of topic evidence expertise.

The Supervisor Development Programme website contains open-access resources and tools to support practice supervisors in adult social work who are responsible for supervising the practice of others. Many of the resources are adapted from teaching materials used in the programme.
