Support for workforce development – trauma-informed practice
Support for workforce development – trauma-informed practice
Delivered online using Teams
13:00 - 15:00 Thursday, 16 November 2023
Learn how to independently develop your own learning and development sessions with our new materials on trauma-informed practice.
Many people may experience the effects of trauma, but healing can be nurtured through trauma-informed practice. This provides hope that, even in the most complex of circumstances, trauma-informed practitioners can support people to take steps to manage adversity and rebuild their lives.
Attendees will learn how to use Research in Practice information, resources, and activities to develop and deliver their own bespoke training for their workforce. Objectives include:
- To define trauma and understand how trauma may manifest in individuals and affect ‘help seeking’ and engagement.
- To understand principles of trauma-informed approaches in work with individuals over their life course.
- To consider common procedures and practice in social care through the lens of trauma and how we can adapt these to minimise distress.
- To understand the importance of managing vicarious trauma and intersecting experiences.
This session is aimed at workforce development staff working within children's services.
